Don’t get it twisted and don’t be fooled, the US is not a great country. If America was ever great, then we wouldn’t have president after president and Congress after Congress manufacturing crises, imposing imperialism, and working only for the interests of the ruling classes. A great nation, not only has diversity, equity and inclusion, but it uplifts, supports, and empowers its citizens, permanent residents, and visitors.
A great nation does not round up human beings into foreign concentration camps and domestic prison camps, like the US government is doing right now to Latino, Black and Asian immigrants en masse due to members of these groups reportedly being undocumented.
A great nation acknowledges the harm that past iterations have done, and works towards tangible reparations. Reparations for Native and Black Americans are overdue, that wouldn’t happen in a truly great nation.
A great nation learns from history, rather than repeating the evil of times past. From Japanese Americans to Latino Americans, no group would be targeted indiscriminately, and “law and order” would be for the benefit of citizens, instead of wealthy elites who are the only ones to tangibly benefit from xenophobic policies.
A great nation has empathy and solidarity for their neighbors, instead of laughing at their “downfalls”. A great nation is filled with great people who appreciate difference and diversity, not people continuously fighting in support of ignorance and hate as we have seen (circa 2025) in the US against trans, disabled, and Black Americans.
A great nation would not continue to support genocides against Palestinians, Tigrayans, the peoples of Darfur, or the Banyamulenge simply because the aggressor governments that target them are considered “allies” of the US.
A great nation would not have spineless institutions that capitulate to a madman who only has power due to populist reactionary ideologies and reverse DEI sentiment.
Until we collectively get our shit together, don’t tell me anything about America being “great again” or having ever been “great”.
